For students
and physician preceptors of the Medical University of Ohio AHEC
program, medical research is just a click away through MedReach,
a medical information outreach system.
While serving rural clerkships throughout Northwest Ohio,
AHEC students and their preceptors access medical information,
databases, reference materials and library resources from
17 computer systems located in community hospitals and student
housing facilities.
Information obtained through the system supports their medical
experience without the students or preceptors traveling to
MUO's campus in Toledo to conduct research.
MedReach is available on the World Wide Web and medical
information can be printed directly from the AHEC's web page.
Much of the information is licensed and remote access is restricted
to only AHEC preceptors and students doing AHEC clerkships
through a user name and password.
This free service connects students and preceptors with
numerous health science databases as well as the Mulford Library
at MUO and OhioLINK, which links all of Ohio's university
libraries.
