Women's Health Month
To encourage women to take an active role in their health care, Ohio's seven AHEC regions joined together with the Ohio Department of Health to present Women's Health Month 1999.
Throughout the state the seven AHEC regions offered conferences, workshops and health fairs focused on women's health issues during September. Nearly 70 programs in almost 50 counties were held in both rural and urban settings to reach a diversity of women.
With topics ranging from nutrition, heart disease and stress, the month-long educational effort made programs accessible, culturally appropriate and responsive to the needs of local women.
